It was a nice picnic to Nuwaraeliya. Beautiful gardens and its so cold. I can stand there for hours if I could. anyway these Sunflowers are so beautiful and at sunlight the faces of these flowers turn towards east. During the day the faces follow the sun from east to west. While at night they turn to eastward orientation.
I am no science student to tell u how it works. But wen I checked from Internet it says this motion is performed by motor cells in a flexible segment of the stem just below the bud. Also there is something interesting; The floret arrangement is mathematical. There are many varieties of sunflowers. (American Giant Hybrid,Red Sun,Skyscraper,Titan....etc)

I could remember a nice poem by Thomas Moore....here it goes
It is not while beauty and youth are thine own,
And thy cheeks unprofaned by a tear,
That the fervor and faith of a soul may be known,
To which time will but make thee more dear!
Oh the heart that has truly loved never forgets,
But as truly loves on to the close,
As the sunflower turns to her god when he sets
The same look which she turned when he rose!
(Thomas Moore)

That the fervor and faith of a soul may be known,
To which time will but make thee more dear!
